Course Description:
Cymatherapy is the rapidly emerging field of the therapeutic use of sound. This introductory short course provides methodologies for utilizing tuning forks to stimulate acupoints for a variety of therapeutic effects. The direct contact of the tuning fork provides a coherent mechanical input via the meridian system and fascial network. The myofascial and musculoskeletal systems can be accessed via protocols to address common complaints such as headaches, neck and back pain, and to support post-surgical rehabilitation.
The combination of specific frequency tuning forks with select acupoints can be used to reduce stress and calm the nervous system. The fascial structure responds to vibratory input from tuning forks with palpable changes in fluid viscosity, which in turn restores elasticity and can facilitate the release of tension in the fascia.
Students will gain direct hands-on experience in the use of tuning forks via partner exchange sessions and will learn how to customize protocols according to individual needs. Research in cymatic sciences, contraindications for tuning fork use and options for further study will also be presented.
