Course Description:
A solid understanding of the role of the vagus nerve in autonomic regulation becomes ever more important as the impact of unresolved trauma on health comes more fully into focus. This class provides the practitioner with a foundational knowledge of the relationship of the vagus nerve to the autonomic nervous system.
Topics explored include:
- the auricular branch of the vagus nerve relative to auricular acupoints
- basic neurochemistry of the ANS
- functions of the amygdala gland and its access via the optic nerve
- breath regulation techniques to disengage an upregulated sympathetic state
- acupoint stimulation to activate the parasympathetic nervous system
- the psoas complex stress response and corresponding neuro-sensory release techniques
- and more
Upon completion of this course, the practitioner will be equipped to provide a variety of protocols to harness the multifaceted functions of the vagus nerve and initiate the self-regulatory mechanisms of the ANS. The ability to lower stress levels while rendering any form of therapy or care can make a significant contribution to overall therapeutic outcomes.
